One of your most recognised roles was as Chardonnay in Footballers’ Wives. What’s the difference between a WAG lifestyle and a Natural lifestyle?
Just think the opposite of natural. Self tan, acrylic nails, and hair pieces!!!!
Dr. Lipp has a challenge for you, what would be the next thing you would like to include or exclude from your lifestyle that would make you feel ‘more natural’?
To stop using tanning products! I am pale and don’t like to sunbathe, so sometimes I’m left without a choice! I love Fake Bake products and Madame LA LA West Coast Face Bronzing Serum which is created with Coconut Water, Vitamins and Antioxidants.
What is the first thing you think about when I ask you if you will go natural?
I would think put down the razor and cancel the wax!
But seriously, what does “natural” mean to you?
I love using natural products – I don’t use completely 100% natural products all of the time – but I like to avoid products with parabens, SLS mineral oil, and artificial colours and fragrances. I also try to avoid processed food where possible. I’ve been touring with a play ‘Rehearsal For Murder’ this year – and when you are staying away from home this isn’t always possible!
Where did the inspiration behind Blusher & Blogging come from? Have you always been a fan of beauty?
Huge fan. Always. When I was a teenager all I spent my money on was skincare. I didn’t always make the right skincare choices back then, but I have at this stage tried so many different products! I set my blog up when I was about to travel in 2011. I was searching on the internet for the best thai massage places in Thailand – and there was a particular place ‘Sweet Lemongrass Massage’ that was rated No1 on Trip Advisor and yet there was no information available anywhere! No treatment lists, no directions – just people writing amazing place and very hard to find. That’s what inspired me to set the blog up, which my sister helped me with as I had no idea where to begin.
You’re also a qualified reflexologist. Can you tell us a bit about that?
I’ve been enjoying the benefits of reflexology for years – Paolo Lai at Nevilles Hair and Beauty treats me – and when (via him) the Association of Reflexology asked me to be their ambassador a few years ago, I asked them to book me onto one of their accredited training courses. I trained at Nature Care College Guildford. It’s a great way to balance the body using points on the feet and hands – it can help with anything from allergies, to sleep issues and blood pressure. It is also excellent in pregnancy (beyond the first trimester). When I’m not away touring with a play, I do a Saturday a month at ARK Skincare’s salon in Putney.
Do you have a favourite skincare product?
Yes I am one of the brand ambassadors for ARK Skincare. I swear by their Radiance Serum which contains Amino Acids, Vitamin C and Red Algae. It brightens the skin and helps to reduce the appearance of sun spots whilst giving an all day glow. I also every day use ARK’s SPF 30 Skin Protector Primer which protects my skin and has a divine velvet finish that doubles up as a make-up primer.
Do you tend to stay faithful to your beauty products, or are you tempted by shiny, new offers?
I’m a trier. I love to try. I love to buy. Does that make me a cheat? I’m very faithful to my favourites I will buy over and over again but i do like to mix it up – particularly where make-up is concerned.
Dr.Lipp believes we should feel good every day. What are your top priorities to make sure you feel good?
When I can I go to the gym, go for a run or do cross fit. Recently I feel as if I haven’t been still enough and sometimes I like to be still. I’m about to go to the west coast of America – later this week and am visiting one of my favourite places – Ojai. It’s a beautiful town – that is so peaceful – and I always visit Meditation Mount when I am there
What are your top natural skincare products?
I swear by ARK Skincare’s Conditioning Oil – because I use it for everything – my hair, my body, my bath. It contains a blend of 100% natural essential oils, blended with Sweet Almond Oil. I also love Aroma Works Aromabombs – they are extremely luxurious bath bombs that are 100% natural.
Are you a Dr.Lipp Virgin?
Absolutely not! I am addicted. I first tried it 18 months ago when my friend Lulu bought it for my birthday.
What was the first thing you did when you tried Dr.Lipp’s Original Nipple Balm for lips for the first time?
Smeared it on my eyebrows, too, to tame them! I just knew it would work, and it did. It is in my handbag every single day. It’s the best lip soother. Nothing troubles me more than dry skin and dry lips – it makes me feel so uncomfortable. I use it on my lips, I mix it with lipstick, I use it on my eyebrows and I use it on my cheekbones to make my skin glow.
