Can you tell us about the chosen look? What was the inspiration for it?

The look shows actress Jodie Comer on the cover of Glamour UK, and the inspiration behind it was “the hair that every woman wants” – the ultimate cool girl hair.

What products did you use to create the hairstyle?

This look is all about the preparation. Firstly, I layer the roots with a root lifter, blast the hair upside down and double up with a moose on top before blow drying the hair with a round brush. I call this process the double blow out.

For the wave, I use the GHD soft tong as this barrel size is perfect for adding a loose, undone texture. Around the front, It’s really important to direct the tong away from the face, then alternate the direction of the tong throughout the back sections to add more of a lived in, undone texture.

Leave the hair to cool down and then it’s time to dress the hair out. I like to use a Mason Pearson brush to pull out the wave, and I also use my fingers to rake through the mid lengths and ends. Finish by adding Sam McKnight’s Cool Girl hairspray and pop a small amount of Bumble and Bumble invisible oil on the ends of the hair.

Any tips for anyone at home wanting to recreate a similar hairstyle?

Practice makes perfect! Make sure you use a heat protector, and if your hair is fine you may want to add some clip-ins for extra body and thickness.

What would you say your signature beauty look is?

Natural, effortless, expensive, healthy looking hair

What would you be doing if you were not a hair stylist?

I honestly couldn’t imagine doing anything think other than hair. Sometimes I think to myself “Imagine if I hadn’t done that apprenticeship”.

I like to think I’d have done something involving fashion, within the industry I love best.

What items should everyone have in their kit?

Toothbrush, for any fly aways. Wide tooth comb, the best for creating separation within the hair without brushing out the wave too much. A good hairdryer (my go to is the GHD Air). A variety of different-sized tongs.Cover grips, perfect for setting the hair without marking the hairline.

Who is your dream client?

Gisele Bündchen

Do you have any career highlights so far?

Working with Cindy Crawford and her daughter Kaia Gerber was brilliant.

What is a day in the life like for you?

Every day is different. One day I could be doing a press day, the next it could be shooting at a studio, working backstage at Fashion Week or traveling with one of my clients.

Early call times a regular thing: if you follow me on Instagram you’ll see me posting stories at 5am on my way to a job.

What is the best piece of beauty/styling advice you ever received and what is the best piece you could give?

Hot to mould and cold to hold. It’s like baking a cake, if you want to get body in the hair you need heat and tension to add lift into the hair. Then it’s really important for the hair to cool, so use the cold setting on the dryer to hold it into place.

My top tip is for flyaways around the hairline. Simply spritz some hairspray onto a toothbrush then tame those fly aways down.

"I was on Roaccutane a few years ago to help with my acne. The drug worked wonders but it really dries out your skin and the only lip balm that would hydrate my lips was Dr.Lipp! A friend recommended it to me so I took myself to Space NK and treated myself to a tube and what can I say, I’ve never looked back!"
