Our Favourite Stretches to Beat the Afternoon Slump!

The organic coffee buzz has worn off, the food coma is in full swing and you just can’t keep your eyes open anymore! It’s that ooooh so dreaded afternoon slump! Did you know a few quick stretches will revitalise and refresh you right away?! Stretching keeps your muscles engaged and awake, therefore keeps you at your best throughout the day! Here are our most favourite easy stretches to beat the pesky tiredness!

 

  1. Standing Quad Stretch – Raise your foot from behind to to reach your bottom and grab it with your hand. Keep your thighs parallel and your chest high. Hold this position for 10 seconds before switching to the other leg. Your muscles will thank you later darlings!
  2. Hip Flexor Stretch – Banish tiredness and start your stretch in a lunge position with your left leg forward. Lower your right knee towards the ground at a 90-degree angle and hold for five seconds. You should feel the stretch in your left hip. Repeat on the other side. 
  3.  Downward Dog & Cobra – Start in a Cobra position by laying on your stomach with your hands on the ground, directly under your shoulders. Straighten your arms and pull your chest up to stretch out your abs. After five seconds, transition into a downward dog post by straightening your feet and pushing your hips back into the air. You should also feel the stretch in your arms and back. Hold for five seconds.

And just like that…your muscles will feel oh so fresh and lively!
