Sara Hill

International Makeup Artist

With over 22 years of experience as an International Makeup artist spanning from the red carpet to magazine editorials, we had the amazing opportunity to chat to Sara about how she creates stunning looks like the L’Officiel Lithuania to her best makeup tips!

We LOVE the L’Officiel Lithuania shoot you created! Can you tell us more about the chosen look? What was the inspiration for it? Thank you, so happy you liked it. I worked closely with the photographer Tobias on the looks we wanted The pitched look cheek and bitten lips Inspiration from Victorian Makeup Era. We wanted the mood to be effortless, angelic and timeless.

What products did you use to create the look? Skin – I used Pixi Beauty Balm, mixedwith Khiels Oil as a base. I used Concealer from hourglass by Terri Powder to set the skin and give a semi matte look, Huda Beauty eyeshadow palette on the cheeks in neon orange worked beautifully. I then used Colourpop matte Lipstick with Dr Lipp to prep and keep her lips in good condition. Brows where feathered using Soap brows.

Any tips for anyone at home wanting to recreate a similar look? Use your fingers to
apply the lip products and don’t be scared to pat a little over the lip line for a
bitten look.
What would you say your signature beauty look is? Ethereal Glowing Skin, bushy
brows and a pop of colour.

"I like the skincare and colour element, the texture isn’t to sticky, Dr.Lipp delivers moisture beautifully too. it’s a great product I have used it for years in my kit. I especially love the tints."

Do you use cruelty-free beauty products in your kit? Why? I try, however so many
brands chop and change so much with selling to China it’s sometimes hard to keep
up with their cruelty free status. I would love to be all cruelty free of course and I
think its crazy that it is still an issue at all, there’s just no need to test on animals!

What can we all do to be a little bit more green or ethical as a make-up artist? It’s
difficult, especially with all the packaging that comes with makeup products. I
suppose just looking for alternatives where possible, try not to use disposables all
the time. And use products to the end or swap with friends if you are not using
them so you get the most out of your products rather than buying more all the
time.

What would you be doing if you were not a makeup artist? I would love to be an
Inventor I have no idea what I would invent, possibly something that allows you to
fly, time travel or be invisible would be cool Ha Ha  x

What items should everyone have in their kit? Good makeup brushes are so worth
their money, a foundation that contains moisture and is sheer and good skincare are
all worth the investment  x

Who is your dream client? Emma Stone, Margo Robbie & Billie Eilish. I could list so
many more. I just love working with talented strong women with their own style.

Do you have any career highlights so far? So many and two many to mention. Ihave worked as a makeup artist for 22 years. www.sarahill.com

What is a day in the life like for you? Every day is different, from the red carpet to photoshoots. I travel a lot as I live in Glasgow most of my work is in London so I’m
there most weeks. But I love to return home to Nature and to be with my partnerBob. Living here keeps me grounded, happy and content.

What is the best piece of beauty advice you ever received and what is the bestpiece you could give? Don’t be scared to touch your face once your makeup is applied. especially as we get older a little heat from your hands can help the
foundation sit better on the skin.
