Dina Catchpole

Makeup Artist

And her Stella Cover Shoot!

For this month’s Behind The Look, we chat to beauty industry dynamo Dina Catchpole. With a client list boasting the likes of Vogue UK, French Glamour and The Observer, it’s no wonder we loooove Dina’s beautiful work! And we absolutely adore this gorge Stella Magazine cover shot by Lara Jade with actress Holiday Granger.

I like the texture of Dr Lipp, that it is not greasy when you apply it, and not super shiny. Also has the double benefit that you can use it elsewhere on your body for stubborn dry patches!

‘Holiday has the most amazing skin and has great bone structure, I used Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Serum to start with, followed by Bobbi Brown SPF50 protective Face Base.  As she has great skin I used Changel Vitalumiere Aqua to give her a light foundation coverage.  On the eyes I used Mac Pro Longer Paintpot Groundwork as a base for eyeshadow followed by a little setting powder by Dr Haushka.  The nude eyeshadow colours are from a pallet by Zoeva called Blanc Fusion.  I shaded her cheeks using a neutral pallet by PUR called Contour Diaries.  Lips where an amalgamation of few colours taken from a great palette by MAC called Lip Pro Pallette Necessary Nudes.’

This classic look shows off Holiday’s ethereal beauty…and we are dyyying to recreate it! ‘If you want to keep the skin dewy as I did here, only use powder sparingly to set the eyeshadow and cheeks and maybe a little on the T Zone.  You could also use the same product for eyes lips and cheeks to make it easier, as the tones in these areas were very similar.’ Thanks Dina, can’t wait to try!

Known for her signature look of great skin, dewy finish, mostly natural looks, we were eager to get to know what natural products (besided Dr.Lipp of course) Dina keeps in her beauty kit at all times! ‘Lip balm and a great moisturiser. With brands like Burt’s Bees, Weleda, Neals Yard Remedies, Beauty Kitchen and Dr Hauska.’ As a lover of green beauty, Dina says how  ‘we all want to help the world be a greener place, and why test on animals.  Start buying more cruelty free and natural products then other manufacturers will follow suit with the demand from customers.  Recycle packaging.  MAC have a recycle all packaging if you return it and when you have collected 6 stickers you get a free lipstick!!’ Yay!

And for her words of beauty wisdom…‘Always moisturize your neck as well as your face, as this is the first place to show tale tale signs of aging and always use a moisturizer with SPF even in winter,’ explains Dina,  ‘It will help with brown pigmentation as you get older.  I know I didn’t really think about that in my 20s!’

Thanks for sharing Dina, we loooove your work and can’t wait to see what else you do!
