An interview with... Sophie Lee
First off, we loooove you! You are super inspirational and we are glued to your Instagram watching your journey day after day! Can you tell us a bit about how you got to where you are today?
Thank you for supporting my content and following my journey!
It’s crazy how life has been this past year and half! So I was originally a fire performer & dancer, then after my accident I took a break from social media as I got into a really bad place mentally, after a lot of consideration and putting all my insecurities aside I decided to share my story on Instagram, very much to my surprise the response was incredible and my story since then has been able to help so many people around the world, I intend to go into motivational speaking to help even more people.
How has your life changed since the accident?
I’ve become a lot more grounded and wholesome as a person, I’m grateful for life and happy for everything I have besides the materialist things, this journey has made me find my real worth and calling in life, I want to help people and uplift people’s lives
They’re so effortless and feel so nice on the skin, you can go from a plain lip to feeling sassy with just a tint, they so light too!
Your #Beautyisonlyskindeep journey is so inspiring – can you tell us more?
The message at first seems very contradicting I know but when you really look into the meaning of the phrase “Beauty is only skin deep” you understand that in fact it makes sense as it’s not what’s about the exterior, it’s all about interior and what’s in your heart. We can have the most expensive things in the world but it’s our heart that lets us live with a full filled and happy life
Do you think social media has been an important tool in sharing your story?
I think without social media and my management (The @agenc_uk) my story wouldn’t have impacted half as many people, social media gets a lot of bad backlash for being destructive and poisonous to our mental health but I believe it’s all down to ourselves and what we chose to see or follow, I’ve tried to use my platform for good and to spread positivity instead of fabricated pictures of a life that isn’t realistic.
What has been your best career highlights so far?
I honestly feel the most rewarded when I get parents message me to say that they’re happy that their children have someone like myself to look up too, that is what gives me the confidence to put my insecurities aside and share all the good and bad of my life.
Which beauty products can you not live without?
I LOVE your lip balms as I burnt my lips they are SUPER dry all the time! So your products save my life! I also can’t live without tan! (I’m such a ghost!)
I can’t go in the sun as I will burn super easy as my scars are so fresh!
What is an average day like for you?
My days/ weeks are really fast paced and unpredictable which I love, I never know what each day will bring and I love that!
Usually I’m at events, shooting content, I also try to spend at least half an hour each day responding to messages that I get.
What’s your best piece of advice for someone looking to take the first step in a new business or career path?
GO FOR IT WITH ALL YOU HAVE! Be hungry for what you want and make sure that you live and breathe your dreams! You need to be your number 1 fan! Believe you can achieve what you want and you will! It’s all in your mind, it’s so naturally for us to beat ourselves up and criticise everything that we do, we often doubt before we’ve even tried. But be brave and just go for it! People’s opinions aren’t going to pay your bills!
Do you have any tips for balancing such a busy schedule?
Make time for self care! It’s so important to check in on yourself too! It’s good to be busy but it can get so overwhelming, make sure you save time to give yourself some love, if you need a time out, have it. I get really bad anxiety sometimes and when I do I just give myself some air and sometimes go breathe away from any work. Then when I’m ready, I come back refuelled and so motivated to work even harder!
What do you do in your down time?
I’m such a social person so I love being around people but when I have down time, I love watching crime documentaries or watching food videos on YouTube! (I’m weird)
Can you tell us your best beauty tips?
I use the Dr.Lipp products on my eczema and dry skin – and out of all the products, truly they have had AMAZING results.
I like to sleep with coconut oil in my hair over night and I only wash it twice a week to keep it healthy!
Also I sleep with loads of Dr.Lipp lip balm on my lips and that helps so much!
Also in terms of make up – More is more and less is a bore!
What do you feel are the benefits of 100% natural products? Do you use any in your makeup routine?
I used to suffer with really bad acne but since using natural products my skin is so much clearer and less sensitive.
What is next for you?
I really want to change the world and the ideals of beauty that we have fabricated, I may not change the whole world but if I change 1 person’s world then I will be so happy!
