Immune-Boosting Smoothies

There is absolutely nothing worse than feeling under the weather, and if you’re anything like me I’m sure being ill is something you don’t have the time for either. Sometimes it can’t be helped, but one way of making the unavoidable a little bit MORE avoidable is packing your body with everything it needs to fight off nasties. Here are three of my favourite immune-boosting smoothie recipes to get you through the winter.

For your traditional green smoothie with a bit of zing, try this one:

  • 1 tightly packed cup of spinach & kale
  • 1.5 cups of frozen mango, pineapple & kiwi
  • ½ teaspoon of freshly grated ginger
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 1.5 cups of unsweetened almond milk

If green smoothies reeeally aren’t your thing, this one is light and fruity, but will still give your system a helpful little kick!

  • ¼ cup fresh mint leaves
  • 2 cups chopped watermelon
  • 2 cups chopped mango
  • Juice of ½ lime

And finally, a classic recovery-aid, for if the first two didn’t work or I just caught you a little late. It may seem like a weird combo, but trust me, it works!

  • 2 cups of green cabbage
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 oranges, peeled
  • 2 cups of chopped pineapple
  • 1/4 cup or raw peeled golden beet
  • 2 tablespoons of flaxseed oil
  • Juice of ½ lemon

Now all you need to do is combine these smoothies with plenty of water and sleep, and you’ll be fighting fit all winter!
