Chapped lips seem to be a winter woe for even the most savvy skincare gurus, even more so this time of year thanks to a few too many glasses of champers on New Year’s Eve! We know we weren’t the only ones! If your lips are more ‘lol no’ than ‘luscious and lovely’, read on!
Put That Tongue Away
Stop licking your lips – doing so can strip the lips of their natural oils, drying them out. Keep a mini lip balm in your bag or pockets for on the go so you don’t get caught out!
Gently Exfoliate Flaky Lips
Our favourite way to exfoliate the lips is to pop some balm on and gently buff with a muslin or wash cloth, or with a toothbrush if you have one spare. Finish off with more balm for super hydrated, smooth and glossy lips. Hurrah!
Avoid Matte Lipsticks
Hey – just while your lovely lips are healing! Most matte formulas have wicked staying power and in turn can dry out the lips, so make a swap to a lip gloss or tinted balm while your smackers get some TLC.
Protect with Sunscreen
Keep those lips plump and juicy, not dry and chapped, by protecting them with sunscreen like you would the rest of your face and body. We’re big fans of cult US brand Drunk Elephant!
