Healthy Habits For The Morning

I’m sure there’s no need for me to explain the importance of getting the day off to a fabulous start. The way you spend your morning truly does set the tone for the rest of the day, so I thought I’d put together a list of habits to get into, to make your morning routine as perfect as possible!


Taking a bit of time in the morning to centre yourself is a fabulous way to make sure your mind is working as well as it possibly can for the rest of the day! Meditation can decrease anxiety and stress, and improves your concentration, so there’s really no downside. Ten to fifteen minutes in the morning is more than enough, and there are plenty of apps (like Headspace) to help you get started.

Drink Lemon Water

Hydration is the key to eeeverything, darling, and adding a bit of lemon to your water in the morning helps get your body (especially your digestion) on track for the day. Hot or cold, it’s up to you – although warmer water is a bit easier on your system first thing in the morning.

Wake Up At The Same Time Every Day

Your sleep cycle is exactly that – a cycle. If you interrupt it by chopping and changing your schedule that cycle doesn’t work half as well as it should.

Audiobooks or Podcasts

One fabulous way to gently get your brain working in the morning is to listen to an audiobook or podcast on your commute. It doesn’t have to be anything terribly serious – as long as it keeps you entertained and thinking, it’s a winner!

Set Three Goals

One of the easiest mistakes to make is setting yourself too many goals at once. Three is the perfect number to prioritise what’s reeeally important and actually get it done, and setting your goals first thing helps you plan the rest of the day with them in mind!

Light, Nutritious Breakfast

We all know how important it is to have breakfast, but our digestive system is weakest in the morning, so be gentle! Steer away from anything too heavy, and instead focus on the nutrients you need to get the day started; think porridge or a green smoothie.

Make Your Bed

It only takes a minute (yes, even if you have as many cushions as I do, darling!) but it sets the tone for the rest of your day, and somehow really does make everything else seem a bit more manageable.
